Being a Sponsor − Caring for a Vulnerable Child
The Christensen family tell about their experience sponsoring Slaju. They learned of him at a Songea's Kids Day-of-Service event, and
decided to sponsor him. He was able to get the medical care he needed. He is now in school and thriving thanks to their sponsorship.
They have made sponsorship a family affair.
These Children Need Sponsors
Below are the children who need Child Sponsors and some that need legacy Basic Needs or Education
sponsors. Read their stories and give a child a brighter future by becoming their sponsor. They need someone to help them, someone like you.
Chiku
Hello! My name is Chiku. I'm 15 years old, studying in the Form 2 class at Dr. Lawrance Secondary School in Songea. When I grow up I want
to be a doctor.
When I was a young girl, my parents forced me to become a child bride. I did not want to marry--I wanted to stay in school and build a future.
I ran away to the home of my uncle, who now takes care of me. My uncle tries hard to support me, but some days we only manage to have one small meal.

Please Consider Sponsoring a Child!
Education
Sponsorship gives a child shelter, food, clothing, healthcare to form a solid foundation free from concern over the daily necessities.
The key part of sponsorship is an Education to give a path to a brighter future. Sponsors support their child from primary to
secondary school. Then, once they complete their secondary education, a Scholarship Sponsor gives them the opportunity to
get a trade, a career or a profession. Through education, we can break the circle of poverty and help transform the lives of children
and their community.
SK Philosophy − Education Is Key
This video explains Songea's Kids educational philosophy and the successes that it has generated. Songea's Kids supports the education of every sponsored
child to the level they are able to attain. Many children were supported through our program and now have a trade, a career, or a profession and can support
a family and give back to their community. "Education is key for a bright, independent future."
Watch the video and learn how you can help us support our children's education.
Scholarship Sponsors
Higher education has the power to transform lives. Our students strive to reach their potential, and each year, we have students who have excelled in their academic studies
and are admitted to vocational school, college or university programs in Tanzania. There have been many graduates from vocational school, college, and university who are now
working professionals or tradesmen, securing a solid future for themselves and their families, and contributing to the development of their communities. We have students currently
studying at vocational school, college, and university, and many students on the path to higher education. Scholarship sponsors make it possible for these students to
attend vocational school, college or university and realize their potential in life.
Education − Path to Prosperity
All of the children sponsored through Songea's Kids get an education. Education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty and a path to self-sufficiency. Our children are supported
to attend vocational school to learn a trade or to attend college or university for a professional career. Watch to learn more about our education program and the children who have
risen from poverty to graduate to a career/profession. Learn how you can help by donating a Scholarship.
In the 2023/24 academic year, we are thankful to our scholarship sponsors who have made it possible to have eight students
at college/university. This academic year, a new tailoring vocational training program will open at Hope Village once we are able to obtain scholarships
for 5 students. Click on a card below and give a Tailoring Scholarship.
Special Needs
The sponsored children often need items or medical treatment that are not covered by sponsorship. The needed items can range from beds for children sleeping on the dirt
floor, mosquito nets, all the way to the repair or replacement of their foster home. Medical treatment can be a prosthetic device, wheelchair, surgery, hearing aids, all the
way to cancer treatment. This is all paid for through donations to the Greatest Needs. Below are a couple of examples of donations making a big difference in the lives of our
children. Please consider a donation to the Greatest Needs.
Providing for Children with Special Needs
There are a number of sponsored children that have special needs beyond the Basic Sponsorship. This video give an overview of how Songea's Kids with the help of Greatest Needs donors
help children with unique medical or learning needs. Watch the video and learn what we do and how you can help by donating to the Greatest Need.
